Portuguese composer, songwriter and guitarist Rafael Fraga and Eva Aukes met each other in 2011 in Amsterdam. Out of their mutual love for the string instrument a friendship and a guitar duo were born.

The Portuguese guitar is internationally known as an accompanying instrument for fado music. But in Rafael and Eva's album Mysteries of the Portuguese Guitar it has a leading role. They play music from a wide selection of authors - such as Carlos Paredes, Pinho Vargas, Jobim, or Charlie Haden. The album makes a singular blend of Portuguese folk, guitar standards and fado, with a tint of mediterranean exoticism and jazz.

"In this album I wanted the unique timbre of the Portuguese guitar to take the lead role, in a refreshing approach: we re-visited some classics, but most of the album explores new repertoire, featuring exclusive arrangements and original material."
